Mexica is the most well known game in this campaign. It is an accessible and engaging sand-box city-builder. What distinguishes it from most area majority games is that players build the areas in an emergent way, through the placement of canals across the island. What distinguishes it from most city-building games is that you have a builder meeple who has to physically traverse the city you are building. This gives a real sense of 'place' to the city you are collectively creating. 

Free Component Upgrades, and New Components Added!

Compared to the level of detail on all the other pieces, we thought the builder meeples were looking a bit bare. So, we have added screen printing to them! 

Mexica uses action points. We have noticed during playtesting that a few people found it tricky to keep track of how many action points they'd spent each turn. So, we're adding an action point tracker to every copy of the game. 

Both of these additions come at no extra cost to you, and will be included in every copy!

Dry Brushed Resin Temple and Palace Miniatures

From the start we knew we wanted to offer miniatures as an optional add-on for Mexica. We also knew we wanted to use dry-brushed resin, so that the pieces had the necessary heft, and felt like stone to the touch. Here's a little look at the development process on the miniatures so far. Shout out to Praveen, our resident sculptor / nerd with a 3D printer, for his help!

Bridges of Shangri-La Spotlight

Hello all, 

We're a week into this campaign and its going from strength to strength. Today, we are presenting the first of our four games spotlight updates.

Why We Are Kickstarting This Game

As a publisher, sometimes the decision to crowdfund a game is calculated. You look at the market, you see a gap, and a compelling product. Sometimes a game is so good you don’t think. You shrug, and say ‘we are doing this, and figure the rest out later'. Bridges of Shangri-La was the latter. 

The interplay of player incentives, sometimes overlapping, sometimes at odds, is just faciniating. The route destruction makes the game feel like a dance, with the planning and hedging of the early game giving way to a mid-game full of big, impactful moves, and an end game of desperate compromises and just-in-time interventions. Great stuff! I made it about 20 minutes into my first play of the game before deciding to pitch it to the rest of the team, and it took them half a playtest to fall in love with it.

A Game You Want to Show People

This was my favourite moment from the UK Games Expo this year. We had a whole group start playing, call over their friends, and then split into into pairs and play the game with eight players.

Spread the Word

OG euro style games don't often show up on Kickstarter. As a result, fans of these games don't generally check this website. This means a lot of people who would enjoy these games aren't seeing the campaign. Unfortunately, as a small publisher, we don't have the resources to make enough noise for these people to find us. So we are asking for your help. If you know people, online or in person, who would dig these games, please do share the campaign with them. The more support we get, the more likely we can keep doing this.

Shipping Update - Good News for Canadian and Non-EU European Backers!

Hi everyone! 

Thanks for being an early supporter and joining us on this journey. We've had some questions regarding shipping and thought it was worth giving everyone an update to clarify what our plans and costs are. 

Good News for Canadian and Non-EU European Backers

We've heard your feedback and we're further subsidising Canadian shipping to reduce it from CAD$40 to CAD$30. 

Similarly, we are reducing the shipping rate for non-EU european countries from $50 to €18, to match the discounted EU rate.

Shipping Clarifications for All Backers

We've also had some questions regarding shipping and thought it was worth clarifying.

Flat Shipping Rate: For this campaign we are offering a flat shipping rate. That means you only pay one shipping rate regardless of which pledge level you select. Put another way, you get free shipping on every game after the first. So if you've backed one game, it's a great opportunity to pick the others with no additional shipping cost, discounted RRPs, KS extras, and further discounts if you go for all four. 

Customs Friendly: We will ship to all countries in a customs friendly way so you will not pay any surprise import taxes. 

VAT/Taxes: VAT for UK Backers is included in the cost of backing. For countries with equivalent tax rates these will also be covered. Any additional taxes due beyond a rate of 20% will be calculated post-campaign. 

Tariffs: For US backers - as long as tariffs remain at current levels, no additional fee will be collected in the pledge manager. If tarrifs increse, we reserve the right to charge an additional fee. But even if they return to the worst case scenario that we’ve seen in 2025, this would likely only result in a small additional charge.

Wow! 

Thank you for believing in us, and helping us make these games a reality. We're a small company with limited resources, and we couldn’t have done this without you. 

Almost three years ago, Paul, Archie, and I were sitting in a room discussing what we wanted our next Kickstarter to be. We were looking at the kinds of projects that were funding, and struggling to square that with the kinds of games we wanted to play ourselves. 

The idea we settled on with this campaign was to swim against the tide. It was a look back to a style of game that we loved from a special period in the history of board games. We knew doing this was a risk. Crowdfunding trends exist for good reasons. But we’re so pleased that we’ve found an audience that feels the same way, and we can’t wait to get these games into your hands. 

This is the first step on an exciting journey. Thank you for coming along for the ride!
